Turner Pest Control Sponsors New Home for Wounded Warrior Family

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Turner Pest Control, Jacksonville, Fla., and Beaches Habitat for Humanity recently sponsored the construction of a new home for Gena and Ryan Smith through the Wounded Warrior Project.        

While on duty in Iraq in 2006, Sgt. Ryan Smith, suffered a traumatic brain injury resulting from an IED. While Ryan was away, Gena Smith discovered that she had kidney cancer while four months pregnant. Thankfully, Gena delivered a healthy baby and underwent surgery and chemotherapy.

“We are proud to support this project with Beaches Habitat and the Wounded Warrior Project,” said Ashton Hudson, co-owner, Turner Pest Control. “And we are pleased to welcome the Smith family to their new home.”

The Wounded Warrior Project is helping Ryan recover and return to civilian life through its TRACK program.

"We'll be paying about half of what we're paying in rent," said Gena Smith. "This will let us get on our feet and we'll have something of our own - a place to set our roots. To own a home - that's great. But to build it yourself and really love it, that means a lot."
