UF/IFAS Fumigation School 2007 a Big Success

A record-tying 53 students from as far away as Japan, Australia, and Trinidad registered for this one-of-a-kind classroom, workshop, and field instructional program.

FORT LAUDERDALE., Fla. — The 20th annual UF/IFAS School of Structural Fumigation was held Nov. 12-16, at the Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center. A record-tying 53 students from as far away as Japan, Australia, and Trinidad registered for this one-of-a-kind classroom, workshop, and field instructional program. Bayer CropScience (Jorge Moreno), Cardinal Professional Products (Rene Borja), Dow AgroSciences, Ensystex, UAP Professional Products, and Univar USA were 2007 sponsors.

Fifteen of the 16 students who applied for operator certification in the fumigation category passed the rigorous 200 question exam, according to Terry Montgomery, FLDACS examination and certification coordinator.

This year, the following long-time instructors and volunteers were presented certificates for their special service and dedication to the success of the “Fume School”:
