APOPKA, Fla. — The University of Florida Pest Management University recently began offering classes in foundations of termite management at its termite training facility in Apopka.
The courses offer hands-on training on the foundations of termite management, the legal aspects of termite management, safety while handling termiticides, termite biology, calibration of equipment as well as various mock-ups of termite treatments on a variety of construction fundamentals.
Louis Witherington, president, chief entomologist and owner of Falcon Termite and Pest Control, Orlando, Fla., serves on the school’s curriculum committee and contributed to the project. He said he was “honored” to assist with the project, and attended the first class with six of his employees.
