DAVIS, Calif.— The University of Maine Cooperative Extension and other universities have announced the International Symposium on Management of Animal Carcasses, Tissue and Related Byproducts. A call for papers has been issued for the three-day symposium to be held July 21-23, 2009 in Davis, Calif. to discuss carcass disposal technology, planning and policy.
One of the topics that will be covered is carcass disposal in response to routine mortalities, accidental deaths, natural disasters and disease outbreaks. In addition, research and public policy on carcass disposal and federal and state agency response and training experience will be subjects of discussion.
Other topics include:
Carcass treatment (management) options
New and emerging technologies for euthanasia, carcass treatment/disposal and decontamination
Final product use and disposition
Animal studies will focus on, but not be limited to, farm animals, wildlife, and marine mammals.
The deadline to present at the symposium is Jan. 30, 2009.
