Upcoming Conference Helps Businesses Leverage Recycling for Profitability

Titled “Where Business Gets Done,” this event provides businesses with green solutions to manufacturing, distribution and end-of-life management issues. It is scheduled for June 22–24, in Chicago.

RICHFIELD, Ohio - The Recycling Today Media Group has announced the program for its 2008 recycling conferences. Each June the group hosts The Paper Recycling Conference, Plastics Recycling Conference and Electronics Recycling Conference. As the business community seeks green solutions to its manufacturing, distribution and end-of-life management issues, recycling is an instrumental tool.

The co-located events share a common exhibit hall, keynote session and networking events. This year’s program will feature speakers from well-known consumer products companies, such as Coca-Cola, Dell, Panasonic, Georgia Pacific and Hewlett-Packard. It will also include an array of business leaders from recycling firms, such as Waste Management Recycle America, Balcones Recycling, We Recycle! and Greenstar Industries, among others. The wide array of speakers will address the practical issues the industry faces on a daily basis to increase recycling volumes, ensure its sustainability and create actionable recycling programs for today’s wide range of commercial, industrial and consumer products and scrap materials.

Organized under the theme “Where Business Gets Done,” the event focuses on providing an environment where businesses from the generating and processing sectors can interact to create commercially viable solutions. “For recycling to work on a long-term basis it must be commercially viable and environmentally sound,” comments Recycling Today Group Publisher James R. Keefe. “Attendees at our conference come here to learn, but also to trade, form joint-venture operations and drive the commercial success of their operations. We’ve seen recycling plants built, processing techniques developed and trading relationships formed as the direct result of relationships begun during previous years’ events.”

As business leaders strive to achieve green business practices, the recycling industry is increasingly at the forefront. “Maximizing the value and utilization of the world’s finite resources is really what the recycling business is all about,” comments Editor-in-Chief Brian Taylor. “Recyclers realized decades ago, however, that they needed to produce specification raw materials that industry could use to ensure an end market. Only by doing so could they continue the circle of recycling, and that mindset of conservation and reuse is at the core of long-term sustainability - what people today are calling green business.”

The events will take place June 22 – 24 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago. The conferences’ complete programs, including details on the keynote event and individual program sessions, can be found online at www.RecyclingTodayEvents.com.
