SALT LAKE CITY— A former Bugman Pest and Lawn employee who admitted his actions led to the deaths of two Layton girls was given his sentence Friday.
Coleman Nocks, 64, was given a sentence of 36 months probation after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of unlawful use of a registered pesticide. Bugman Pest and Lawn was also placed on probation for 36 months and was ordered to pay $3,000 in fines.
Nocks applied Fumitoxin pellets into a burrow system within 15 feet of the Toones' house in February 2010. The application was inconsistent with product's labeling and exceeded the required dosage. The poison was aimed at voles, a species of small rodents.
