ROCKVILLE, Md. — WallSensor is a small, battery-powered, wireless sensor that detects termites and other in-wall threats, and sends out alerts via email and smartphone push notifications.
The WallSensor runs on a 5-year standard battery and has a skinny stethoscope mic. Users sink a hollow screw that comes with each sensor into wallboard, and thread the mic into the hollow screw. Then they hang the sensor on the protruding screw.
The sensor's little mic scans in all directions, with a 20-feet plus range, on average, the company reports. WallSensor can discern insects, rodents and the sound of dripping water inside your walls.
WallSensor was developed by Joe Korakin, a wireless sensor and acoustics engineer with a background audio processing.
