NATICK, MA. - Waltham Pest Services recently launched a new educational program called Waltham Services Academy. This program shares expert knowledge from their Board Certified Entomologist to friends and neighbors in the New England area about vectors like ticks and mosquitoes.
Waltham begun the program to help people be aware of pests that can transmit disease and learn how to mitigate exposure to those pests. In order to limit pest populations around property, Hope Bowman, Board Certified Entomologist and training, technical and quality manager, suggests, "easy fixes to landscaping around your home, removing water sources and making minor changes to your routine."
Waltham Services Academy is offered to anyone who would like to be more prepared to take on the mosquitoes and ticks in the New England area. This presentation is usually an hour long and is conducted by Bowman.
She has a personal connection to educating people about ticks in particular because both her mother and her dog tested positive for Lyme disease this year. She said, "I have always been interested in helping our community, but those positive cases so close to home pushed me to do more. A major component of integrated pest management is education, and I am excited that through the company I work for, I have the opportunity to bring it to our community."
Regional sales manager, Brad Petty said on the program, "We created this free educational service specifically to educate people about mosquito and tick prevention. A single bite from a mosquito or tick could give you a life-threatening disease like Eastern Equine Encephalitis or Lyme. The more people we can educate the better. Our company has the knowledge and expertise because we've been around the longest in the area. I'm excited to share the knowledge we have learned over our many years to help protect our friends and neighbors in the community."
Chris Weppert, region manager believes the program is Waltham's duty. He said, "We feel it's our obligation to share our over 127 years of experience to help people whether they are customers or not.
