OHIO
There is a confirmed case of the West Nile virus in a northeast Ohio resident, the Cuyahoga County Board of Healthy confirmed Monday.

A 68-year-old Strongsville resident was treated and released for the West Nile fever at a local hospital.

INDIANA
So far this year, Indiana has had four confirmed human cases of West Nile virus, including one in Marion County, and it's been found in birds and mosquitoes in 49 counties. Health officials suspect it's now in every part of the state.

NEVADA
The number of cases of West Nile virus has jumped sharply in Nevada over the past week, rising by 16 to 84, according to the Nevada State Health Division.

So far this season, Elko County has reported the most cases at 15, followed by Douglas and Humboldt counties with 14 each. Eleven cases were reported in Lyon County and five in Carson City.

Churchill County has 10 cases reported, Washoe County has eight, Pershing County has three, Lander has two and Clark and Nye counties have reported one each.

CALIFORNIA
The first confirmed human case of the West Nile Virus in Alameda County has left officials concerned but not surprised.

The infected resident was treated for the virus on Aug. 27, according to a press release issued last week by the Alameda County Public Health Department. He is currently recovering at home.

Earlier human infections in nearby counties left county officials wary of the disease, said John Rusmisel, district manager of the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District.
