SAN DIEGO, Calif. – XT-2000 also referred to as "orange oil" is a naturally occurring essential oil containing the active ingredient d-limonene.

Derived from the rind of oranges, this remarkable citrus oil has been successfully used for a multitude of purposes, including the eradication of drywood termites. Recently, the EPA provided approval of XT-2000 orange oil for the treatment of trees infested with wood destroying beetles. Generally regarded as safe (GRAS), test studies found a 93.5% - 98% kill ratio of beetles when applying XT-2000 orange oil.

XT-2000 orange oil has the unique ability to wick through wood moving through the wood’s porous cells in all direction. In tests with wood boring beetles, XT-2000 was first applied to the exterior of the tree. The orange oil then traveled through the bark into the cambrium area of the tree, killing beetles within 24 hours.

“Until now, there have been few options for foresters, arborists and other tree enthusiasts trying to fight these devastating beetles,” said Michael Folkins, president of XT-2000. “XT-2000 orange oil, with its capillary ability, is an effective and low risk treatment that kills wood boring beetles. Orange oil is also of little consequence to humans and animals which is another great advantage.”
