PPMA Debuts New Bug Battles Video Series

FAIRFAX, Va. — With the 2022 Winter Games set to begin, people across the U.S. are wondering: who will win? The big matchup the Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA) is talking about is Bug Battles, its new video series.

In a series of hypothetical encounters, the animated video project pits different species against one another, highlighting each pest’s abilities, habits and weaknesses to declare a “winner” while educating the public about the property and health threats they can pose and the importance of working with a licensed pest control professional.

“We’re always challenging ourselves to come up with creative and innovative marketing ideas to make pest education and prevention an interesting and relevant topic for today’s consumer,” said Cindy Mannes, executive director of PPMA, the public outreach arm of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA). “By putting a fun, video game-inspired twist on pest matchups, we’re helping the public gain a better understanding of the serious risks they pose and reminding folks to leave these pests to the professionals. What’s more, this content can be used in the classroom as cool learning content for kids as well.”

The first episode of the series, featuring bald-faced hornets versus yellowjackets, can be found on the NPMA site, as well as PPMA’s YouTube page. Check back later this month for new episodes to see which pests are crowned the ultimate Bug Battles champions.
