Industry Celebrates April as National Pest Management Month

PPMA encourages company participation during month-long observance.

FAIRFAX, Va.  – The Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), which serves as the public outreach arm of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), is celebrating April as National Pest Management Month. The month-long observance, which has been taking place for more than 30 years, recognizes the pest management industry for its commitment to the protection of public health and property from common household pests.

“We strive each day to communicate the importance of professional pest management against termites, ants, bed bugs, rodents and other pests that can pose public health threats and cause significant damage to homes and businesses,” said Missy Henriksen, executive director or PPMA. “National Pest Management Month is a wonderful opportunity for industry members to help spread this vital message in their own communities.”

PPMA is conducting a campaign during NPMM through social and traditional media and encourages pest control companies to join the cause through their own media relations outreach. “From customizable press releases on NPMM and other pest-related topics to suggested social media posts for Facebook and Twitter, we have a variety of materials to help companies communicate to their customer base,” added Henriksen.

As part of NPMM, PPMA is also marking the last week in April as Bed Bug Awareness Week to promote public vigilance and provide essential prevention advice about bed bugs, especially during summer travel. PPMA has created a bed bug toolkit, which includes a customizable press release, talking points to assist in interviews with reporters, suggested social media posts, bed bug facts, prevention tips and photography. All materials are available to PPMA Guardians and Contributors on PPMATools.org, the group’s exclusive marketing hub for investors.
